Carrefour will Plassat? the new CEO

colspan="2" class="createdate"> Monday, January 30, 2012 The retail giant Carrefour has announced that President and CEO Lars Olofsson will not ask for a renewal of his duties at the next shareholders' meeting scheduled for June 18. Olofsson, will be replaced by Georges Plassat, the current number one Vivarte. For Carrefour, struggling with profitability problems, it is the third change of CEO in four years. The announcement came this morning in a statement that the company fixed the passing of the baton on 2 April.

Plassat become Executive Director of Carrefour on April 2 for a transition period before being appointed CEO at the end of the shareholders. Following Plassat receive from the Board of Directors also appointed president. Olofsson had taken the lead of the retail giant three years ago. The Swedish managers, however, failed to revive the group.

The Carrefour group is currently controlled by U.S. fund Colony Capital and Group Arnault, a subsidiary of private investment financier Bernard Arnault of French luxury, which together hold a 16% share of equity capital and have already accused 2 billion euros of losses on their joint investment.
