More than 200 Saab engineers are reported to be being recruited by a technology consultancy that has been set up in Trollhattan in the wake of the car manufacturer's bankruptcy.

Local media reports suggest Combitech, which is owned by the Saab AB defence company, moved to open a development centre in the car maker's home town in the immediate wake of the car firm's closure.

Recruitment of the 200 engineers is is reportedly underway already, with the company looking for high technology specialists to work within the defence industry and as external consultants.

A spokesman for Volvo Sweden has also confirmed that the company has already recruited 40 ex-Saab employees in the wake of its bankruptcy, adding that he expected another 100 to join shortly.
