Berlin and his rise as a fashion capital

What was to become the metropolis of Berlin, German fashion was not anticipated even a few years ago. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Berlin became a city of opportunity, and 1000 saw the arrival of creatives from around the world in search of spaces not yet explored. But

lit despite the creativity, the city did not have the basic requirements of a city of fashion such as, for example. inhabitants are accustomed to shopping, fans of the style, or facilities necessary for commercial success. Thus, even in the years after reunification, the fashion capitals remained Monaco and Dusseldorf. Berlin had an interesting image, but little substance practice.

Things changed in 2003: the debut of the fair premium of fashion, Karl-Heinz Müller moved his denim and streetwear show Bread & Butter from Cologne to the capital, attracted dall'incontestato charm that made the city attractive to international visitors. This situation, however, had no long-term and early 2007, Müller decided to move the show in Barcelona. Berlin remained without his flagship for two and a half years. Just reached the status suddenly seemed at risk.

In the meantime, however, some things had happened: in addition to the Fair Premium continues to grow, many small events were organized, such as the Ideal Showroom, which was not only a launch pad for young designers in Berlin, but contained Scandinavians also marks. So the fascination with Berlin on the countries of northern Europe would have grown steadily over the years to come.

There was no in

still a symbolic center with a noticeable effect even outside of the sector and attract the attention. New leap in 2007, the first Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. From a commercial standpoint, this parade was less important than the fair but had a more attractive with regard to the perception of Berlin as the seat of fashion. Fairs were also there in other German cities. In the first place mainly in Düsseldorf, where he defended his state of CPD most important fashion trade show in Germany. But there was only Fashion Week in Berlin. The effect was immense media. In addition, the show provided to local designers the opportunity to get noticed.

In July 2009, Berlin was definitely the metropolis of German fashion. The Bread & Butter returned from Barcelona where he was able to consolidate the status of international fashion fair largest in its segment. Meanwhile, the policy began to recognize the importance of this sector, Klaus Wowereit, the mayor played a key role in the return of the fair at home.

The wheel had begun to run alone. As the buyers who came to Berlin were so many other fairs were organized. From Frankfurt came the streetwear trade show, from Monaco in the Fashion Capsule and founded an outbuilding, which was held in New York, Paris and Las Vegas, chose Berlin as an additional seat. The failure of some projects, though that was not enough to come to Berlin to succeed. It was necessary to an adequate concept.

The domain of the capital was finally recognized in Düsseldorf. After several attempts at reform, the Igedo Company changed the traditional form of the CPD. Currently, the agency is represented at the fair in Berlin, formed "The Gallery".
